丽莎·米尔罗伊出生于加拿大温哥华，于1982年毕业于伦敦大学金史密斯学院。1989年,米尔罗伊获得英国约翰·摩尔新绘画大奖赛一等奖，并于2005年入选伦敦皇家画院。目前她生活并工作在伦敦，自2009年至今，她在伦敦大学斯莱德美术学院任研究生绘画艺术主管。

As a 'still life painter', Lisa Milroy has always been interested in the human relation to objects, to making and to materiality. In 'Heartbeat', Milroy presents different groups of paintings that explore identity - how to make paintings with feelings and how to form a sense of self. This is reflected in the exhibition title 'Heartbeat'. The heart is an object that has a mechanical function to maintain or 'make' life. On an abstract level, the heart infers feelings and emotions. The beat is the mysterious force that animates the heart: the beat makes the heart work, the beat makes it come alive.

Lisa Milroy was born in Vancouver, Canada and graduated from Goldsmiths College, University of London in 1982. Milroy won First Prize in the John Moores Painting Prize in 1989 and was elected to the Royal Academy of Arts in 2005. She lives and works in London and is Head of Graduate Painting at the Slade School of Fine Art, UCL since 2009.
