让我想一个画展的名称。想来想去总也想不好。

读到“低语”二字，不再想了。

四面喧哗，四出张扬，到处甚嚣尘上。眼睛可以闭上，但耳朵不行，让你躲也躲不开。这种境况下，就感觉到“低语”很绿色，甚至是一种文雅，一种文明！

而且，“低语”也并不弱，并不妨碍手里、眼里、心里气象万千！隽泰先生的画作即为明证，而严夫人笔下的花，竟让我想到一个先前从未想过的问题：花，谓之静物。也许花之美，也在于安静？反过来想，如果花也日夜吵吵闹闹，那么这个世界还有美可言么？

老子是正确的，他说“大音希声”。

The great sound seems soundless

I was asked to think of a name for the exhibition. After great deliberation, I still couldn’t find a suitable one.

When I came across the word “whisper” while reading, I knew that this was the word.

We are amidst noises, harsh noises, even clamor. You can shut your eyes, but cannot switch off your ears. You simply can't keep away from them no matter how hard you try.

Under such circumstances, "whisper" becomes freshly green, fairly elegant, and of elevated cultural taste.

On top of that, "whisper" does not entail any kind of weakness. As evidenced by Mr. Yan Juntai's paintings, "whisper" does not prevent the hand to create a myriad of magnificent scenes, nor will prevent the eyes to find such scenes in the real world or in our minds. Furthermore, Mrs. Yan's paintings of flowers made me ponder over a question I never thought of before: flowers are being regarded as still life. Perhaps the beauty of flowers lies in its quietness? If even flowers turned noisy, will there still be any beauty left in this world?

Lao Zi was right when he said, “the great sound seems soundless.”
