宋冬 (Song Dong)
1966年出生于北京,1989年毕业于首都师范大学美术系,现生活和工作于北京。宋冬是中国当代最重要的观念艺术家之一,作品形式跨越影像、行为、装置、新媒体等多种媒介。1990年代中期起,他在国内外多次举办个展,近期包括纽约现代美术馆的《宋冬:项目90》(2009年)、温哥华美术馆的《物尽其用》(2010年)等;他同时在公共空间实施行为作品,并频繁参加国际重要的艺术盛事,包括1995年、2002年、2006年光州双年展、1998年“由内至外”中国当代艺术展美国巡展、2000年柏林汉堡火车站当代美术馆“生活在此时:中国当代艺术展”、2002年亚太三年展、2004年圣保罗双年展、2010年利物浦双年展等。他曾于2000年获得联合国教科文国际青年艺术家奖金,2006年夺得光州双年展大奖,作品被美国纽约现代艺术博物馆、沃克艺术中心、大都会博物馆、澳大利亚昆士兰美术馆等重要国际机构收藏。他的艺术作品多取材于日常生活,反映出对“存在”等哲学问题的深刻思考。
Song Dong was born in 1966 in Beijing. He graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Capital Normal University in 1989. He currently lives and works in Beijing. Song Dong is one of the most important conceptual artists in China, with works embracing a variety forms of video, performance, installation and new media etc..He started to hold solo shows internationally since the mid-1990s. His recent solo exhibitions include “Projects 90: Song Dong” at the Museum of Modern Art in New York (2009) and “Waste Not” at the Vancouver Art Gallery (2010) etc. Song Dong also conducted performance in the public spaces, and has participated in many important art events, including the Gwanjiu Biennale (1995, 2002, 2006), “Inside out” - New China’ s Arts in the United States (1999), “Living in Time - Chinese Contemporary Art Exhibition ” at the Hamburger Bahnhof Museum, Berlin(2000), Asia-Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (2002), São Paulo Biennale (2004), Liverpool Biennale (2010) etc.. Song Dong was honored as UNESCO/ASCHBERG bursary laureate in 2000, and received the grand award of Gwangju Biennale in 2006. His works are included in the collections of New York MoMA, Walker Art Center, Queensland Art Gallery, and Metropolitan Museum etc.. Song Dong’s art creation is greatly inspired by the daily life objects, reflecting his profound thinking on the philosophical theme such as “existence”.
