朱焯信 《洗脚》 washing Legs in Macau 装置作品 2010

这件装置作品是2010年参与由冯博一先生策划、於深圳何香凝美术馆举行的「蝴蝶效应——两岸四地青年艺术家交流展」的参展作品，我把自己的双腿复製，之后浸在盛满澳门海水的木盆内，整个作品藏在一条跟展场环境一样的白色柱内，观众从“防盗眼”往柱内望，便有一种自己坐著洗脚的错觉，作品主要是讽刺澳门现今社会的“暴发”，以及广东俗语说的“洗脚唔抹脚”(「洗脚不擦乾脚」—挥霍的意思)的不良社会风气。

Washing Legs in Macau

This installation art is one of the exhibited works from The Butterfly Effect – An Artistic Communication Project of Cross-Strait Four Regions at the He Xiangning Art Museum in Shenzhen, a project curated by Feng Boyi. I made a copy of my own pair of feet, putting this duplicate pair into a wooden tub full of Macao seawater. The whole work was installed in a white pillar which was exactly the same as those in the exhibition venue. Exhibition-goers watched from the ‘anti-theft eye’ to the inside of the pillar, having the illusion of the self sitting and washing their own feet. This work serves as a sarcastic observation on the nouveau riche in contemporary Macao society, conveying the Cantonese idiom that ‘people wash the feet but don’t dry them’ – a sarcastic reflection the squandering behaviour of society.
